Ketotifen (Zaditor) Side Effects

Common side effects of ketotifen eye drops are listed below. Tell your doctor if they are severe or persistent. 

  • Runny nose
  • Headache
  • Burning or stinging in the eye
  • Dry eye
  • Eye discharge
  • Problems with the eyelids
  • Problems with tear formation
  • Blurred vision
  • Increased sensitivity to light
  • Sore throat and flu-like symptoms
  • Rash

Rarely, ketotifen can also cause more serious side effects, including allergic reactions. Call your doctor for medical advice or seek emergency medical attention for any unusual or severe side effects, including the following conditions and symptoms:

  • Eye pain
  • Eye redness
  • Changes in vision
  • Worsening eye itchiness or no improvement after 72 hours

Ketotifen (Zaditor) Overdose: If someone swallows ketotifen, contact a healthcare provider immediately. You can also call the National Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person cannot be awakened, has trouble breathing, has collapsed, or has had a seizure, call 911.
