Losartan Hydrochlorothiazide Side Effects

Possible side effects of losartan hydrochlorothiazide are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if they are severe or persist after a few days.

  • Back pain, leg pain, knee pain
  • Heartburn
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Muscle weakness
  • Muscle cramps
  • Decreased sensitivity to touch
  • Loss of appetite
  • Hair loss
  • Frequent urination

Some of the adverse effects of losartan hydrochlorothiazide are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following symptoms:

  • Signs of an allergic reaction with swelling of the eyes, face, lips, mouth, throat, hands, lower legs, ankle, or feet
  • Skin rash, hives, itching, blistering, peeling
  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Hoarseness
  • Signs of dehydration (fluid or electrolyte imbalance), such as thirst, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, fatigue, muscle pain, muscle weakness, muscle cramps, unusual tiredness, restlessness, confusion, fast heartbeat 
  • Signs of infection such as fever, chills, sore throat
  • New or worsening symptoms of abdominal pain that spreads to the back
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising, such as bleeding gums
  • Joint pain or swelling
  • Eye pain, swelling, redness, changes in vision

Losartan hydrochlorothiazide Overdose: In case of an overdose of losartan hydrochlorothiazide, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person has trouble breathing, has collapsed, is unresponsive, or has had a seizure, call 911 or emergency medical services.
