Four-year-old Lydia was diagnosed with retinoblastoma in July 2020 and has endured countless rounds of chemotherapy and eye surgery. She loves going to the park, pretending to be a doctor or veterinarian, and playing with her dolls. Her family can often be found exploring the American Museum of Natural History because Lydia loves dinosaurs. Her parents describe her as an active, happy child that can go from playing with dolls to locating bugs with her magnifier in seconds.
During Lydia’s wish discovery, she was excited to imagine her wish to meet giraffes “at their house.” She imagined visiting and perhaps even touching the giraffes, as well as elephants, penguins, tigers, and ducks. When describing her wish to her volunteers, Lydia also made sure to clarify that while she loves animals, she doesn’t like lions!
Lydia’s wish was granted in August 2022 with the support of national partner, BuzzRx. She and her parents visited Animal Adventure Park in upstate New York, where she enjoyed personalized behind-the-scenes tours and experiences. She absolutely loved feeding the giraffes!
After their time at the “giraffe’s house,” Lydia and her family enjoyed time at Jellystone Park, where Lydia loved running wild in the fresh air.
