Dealing with the spread of his cancer and an intensive lung surgery has not been easy for 17-year-old Oliver. In 2015, he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and began a lengthy treatment plan. Always smiling, Oliver’s love of music helps him stay positive.

To give Oliver something bright to focus on during the tough times, his parents referred him to Make-A-Wish^® Illinois. For Oliver, a percussionist and member of his high school band, choosing his wish was easy: a new drum kit!

While Oliver already had drums at home, he described the set as “piecemeal.” To take his drumming ability to the next level, Oliver wished for a modern, state-of-the-art drum kit. When the day arrived to receive his wish, Oliver was thrilled; he rushed over to play his new drums. The set even came with a travel case so that he can take his show on the road.

Performing on his new set in front of his family brought Oliver incredible hope, strength and joy. With an ear-to-ear grin on his face, Oliver’s drumming – and positive spirit – will continue to reverberate throughout his home.
