How should I take Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (Provera)?

Medroxyprogesterone acetate comes in the form of a tablet to be taken once a day by mouth with water. Your doctor will tell you to take this medicine on certain days of the month based on your menstrual cycle. 

Follow the directions on your prescription label for the correct medroxyprogesterone dosage and frequency. Take your medroxyprogesterone at around the same time on the scheduled days. Do not take more or less than the prescribed dose or take the medicine more or less frequently than prescribed.

Medroxyprogesterone acetate will help to control your condition but will not cure it. Continue taking medroxyprogesterone even if you feel well. Do not stop taking the medicine without talking to your healthcare professional first. 

Missed dose: If you forget to take a dose of medroxyprogesterone, take the medicine as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not take an extra dose to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store medroxyprogesterone at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Keep all medications out of reach of children and pets.
