Meloxicam Side Effects

Possible side effects of meloxicam are listed below. Tell your doctor if these side effects are severe or if they do not go away in a few days.

  • Gas
  • Sore throat
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation

Some of the adverse events related to meloxicam can be more serious. Call your healthcare professional right away or seek emergency medical help if you experience any of the following signs and symptoms while on meloxicam:

  • Skin rash, hives, blisters, peeling, or itchy skin
  • Swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, or eyes
  • Swelling in the abdomen, legs, ankles, or feet
  • Unexplained weight gain or rapid weight gain caused by fluid retention
  • Chest pain
  • Trouble breathing or swallowing
  • Fever
  • Pale skin
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Unusual tiredness, lack of energy
  • Nausea
  • Severe pain in the right upper part of the abdomen
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Discolored, cloudy, or bloody urine, painful urination
  • Back pain

Meloxicam Overdose: In case of an accidental or intentional overdose of meloxicam, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the local poison control center or national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Signs and symptoms of a meloxicam overdose may include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, lack of energy, stomach pain, black or tarry stools, difficulty breathing, seizures, slurred speech, and loss of consciousness.
