How To Use Methamphetamine
Methamphetamine comes as a tablet to take by mouth 1-2 times a day as prescribed. Try to take the medicine at about the same time every day. Avoid taking it too late in the evening as this can cause sleep problems.
For weight management, you should take methamphetamine 30 minutes before meals.
Read the prescription label and follow your doctor’s dosing instructions carefully. Do not change the dose or dosing frequency without your doctor’s approval.
Your child’s doctor will likely start with a low dose of methamphetamine and increase the dose gradually at weekly intervals as needed. They may discontinue treatment with methamphetamine periodically to evaluate whether your child’s ADHD symptoms return and whether there is a need to continue taking the medicine.
Methamphetamine can control ADHD symptoms, but it does not cure the underlying condition. Continue giving your child the medicine even if ADHD is well-controlled. Do not discontinue treatment without consulting your child’s doctor.
If you are on methamphetamine for weight loss, your doctor will prescribe the lowest dose possible. Tolerance usually develops in a few weeks, and the medication becomes ineffective, at which point treatment is discontinued.
Missed dose: If you miss a dose of methamphetamine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose or extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
Storage: Store methamphetamine at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in its original container, tightly closed. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.
Unused medicine: Unused methamphetamine should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to it. Do not throw methamphetamine in the trash or flush it down the toilet. The best way to dispose of expired or unneeded methamphetamine is through a drug take-back program or your local waste disposal company. Learn more about proper medication disposal.
