How should I take MiraLAX?

MiraLAX powder should be dissolved in 4-8 fl oz (120-240 mL) of a hot or cold beverage. This medicine is usually taken once a day for up to 7 days. 

If you are using MiraLAX from a bottle, use the provided measuring cap to ensure you are taking the correct dose. If you are using the packets, each packet contains a single 17-gram dose of MiraLAX. 

Ensure that the MiraLAX powder dissolves entirely and there are no lumps before you drink it. Do not store for later use. Drink the mixture immediately.

Follow the directions on the package insert carefully and use MiraLAX exactly as directed. This medication can be habit-forming. Do not take MiraLAX more than once a day. Do not use more MiraLAX or use it more frequently or for a longer time than indicated on the package instructions or advised by your doctor. 

It can take 1-3 days for MiraLAX to produce a bowel movement.

Missed dose: MiraLAX is usually taken as needed. In case of a missed dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses of MiraLAX together.

Storage: Store MiraLAX at room temperature (between 20°-25°C or 68°-77°F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Keep all medications out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Throw away any expired or unused MiraLAX. Do not flush the medicine down the toilet. The best way to dispose of medicines is through your local waste disposal company or a medication take-back program. Learn more about proper medication disposal.
