Mirapex Tips from Pharmacists

  • You can take Mirapex with or without food. Taking this medicine with food may cause less nausea, which is a common side effect.

  • Do not cut, crush, or chew the extended release tablets. Tell your doctor if you see parts of the ER tablets in your stool.

  • Mirapex can cause sleepiness, including falling asleep without warning in the midst of daily activities. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do other possibly dangerous activities until you know how it affects you.

  • Go slowly from a sitting or lying position to standing to prevent falls due to lightheadedness.

  • Do not stop Mirapex suddenly as this can cause withdrawal symptoms. Your doctor will tell you how to lower the dose gradually.

  • Avoid alcohol while taking Mirapex. Alcohol can make side effects like drowsiness and dizziness worse.
