Nadolol (Corgard) Tips from Pharmacists

  • You can take nadolol with or without food.

  • Your healthcare provider will likely start you on a low dose of nadolol and gradually increase the dose as needed. Follow your doctor’s dosing instructions carefully. Do not stop taking nadolol even if you feel well. Do not discontinue treatment suddenly.

  • Monitor blood pressure at home and bring a log when you visit your healthcare provider. This will help your provider assess your response to the medicine and adjust your dose.

  • Nadolol can mask the symptoms of low blood pressure (hypoglycemia) such as a fast heartbeat. You should know how to recognize hypoglycemia and what to do if it occurs.

  • Talk to your healthcare provider about lifestyle modifications to control blood pressure, such as a low-salt diet and regular physical activity.
