Nicoderm CQ Mechanism of Action

Nicoderm CQ provides nicotine replacement. It prevents nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms associated with quitting smoking.

Nicoderm CQ Doses

Nicoderm CQ patches are available in 7 mg, 14 mg, and 21 mg strengths. The dose is delivered over a period of 24 hours using extended-release SmartControl technology to provide a steady flow of therapeutic nicotine. This makes you less likely to crave cigarettes.

You should apply a new nicotine patch every day (every 24 hr). Your dose of Nicoderm CQ will depend on the number of cigarettes you smoke.

  • If you smoke 10 or more cigarettes per day: Start with Nicoderm CQ Step 1 nicotine replacement (21 mg daily) for weeks 1-6, Step 2 (14 mg daily) for weeks 7-8, and Step 3 (7 mg daily) for weeks 9-10.
  • If you smoke less than 10 cigarettes per day: Start with Nicoderm CQ Step 2 (14 mg daily) for weeks 1-6 and Step 3 for weeks 7-8.

Note: Nicoderm CQ Step 3 (7 mg nicotine patch) is for use by both light and heavy smokers after Step 2.
