Penicillin V Potassium Tips from Pharmacists
Finish the prescribed course of penicillin V potassium even if your symptoms are gone. This is necessary to fully treat your infection and prevent drug resistant bacteria.
Penicillin V potassium is absorbed better on an empty stomach. However, if it causes an upset stomach, taking it with food might help.
Shake the oral liquid well before use. Store it in the refrigerator and discard unused liquid medicine after 14 days. Do not freeze.
Seek emergency medical care if you develop signs and symptoms of allergic reactions, such as skin rash, hives, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
If you develop severe watery and bloody diarrhea after taking penicillin V potassium, call your doctor immediately (before taking anti-diarrhea medicine).
