How To Use Phendimetrazine Tartrate
Phendimetrazine tartrate comes in the form of a tablet and extended-release capsule to be taken by mouth 1-3 times a day, as prescribed. Your doctor may ask you to take phendimetrazine tartrate extended-release tablets as a single daily dose before the morning meal or the regular tablets 2-3 times a day, one hour before meals.
If you are taking the extended-release phendimetrazine tartrate capsules, swallow them whole. Do not cut, crush, or chew them.
Read the prescription label carefully and take phendimetrazine tartrate exactly as instructed by the prescribing provider. Phendimetrazine tartrate and other appetite-suppressant drugs can be habit-forming. Do not change the dose, dosing frequency, or duration of treatment without your doctor’s approval. Most people are prescribed phendimetrazine tartrate for a few weeks only.
Keep in mind that this medication works best as an add-on to healthy lifestyle changes, including increased exercise and a reduced-calorie diet.
Treating obesity with phendimetrazine tartrate carries many health risks. To limit your exposure and lower the risks associated with this drug, your doctor will continue treatment with phendimetrazine tartrate only if you have a satisfactory response (approximately 4 pounds of weight loss in the first 4 weeks or as decided by you and your doctor). Note that phendimetrazine tartrate is not recommended for people who have used any other anorectic agents within the past year.
Missed dose: Take your medication regularly. If you miss a dose of phendimetrazine tartrate, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose or extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
Storage: Store phendimetrazine tartrate at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.
Unused medicine: Unused or expired phendimetrazine tartrate should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw phendimetrazine tartrate in the trash or flush it down the toilet. The best way to dispose of expired or unneeded phendimetrazine tartrate is through your local waste disposal company or a drug take-back program. Learn more about proper medication disposal.
