Uses

Pimecrolimus (Elidel) Uses

Topical pimecrolimus is used for treating eczema (atopic dermatitis), a skin condition associated with dryness, itchiness, and red, scaly rashes. Pimecrolimus is used as a second-line therapy in people with mild to moderate atopic dermatitis who have not responded to or cannot use other treatments.

There may be other uses of pimecrolimus—your doctor or pharmacist can give you further drug information.

Pimecrolimus (Elidel) Mechanism of Action

Pimecrolimus suppresses the immune system by blocking T-cell activation. The drug works by preventing the immune system from making substances that cause eczema.

Pimecrolimus (Elidel) Doses

Elidel (pimecrolimus 1% cream) should be used twice a day on the affected areas for up to 6 weeks.
