Pioglitazone Side Effects
Possible side effects of pioglitazone are listed below. Call your doctor if the adverse effects are severe or persist after a few days.
- Headache
- Gas
- Sore throat
- Muscle pain
- Arm or leg pain
Some of the adverse effects of pioglitazone are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following symptoms:
- Allergic reactions (skin rash, hives, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing)
- Vision loss or changes in vision, such as blurred vision
- Difficulty with urination
- Frequent or painful urination
- Bloody, cloudy, or discolored urine
- Sudden unusual pain in the stomach or back
The above list may not include all the potential side effects of pioglitazone. Contact your healthcare provider if the adverse reactions are unusual or severe or if they do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Pioglitazone Overdose: In case of an overdose of pioglitazone, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
