Precautions During Use of Polytrim (POLYMYXIN B / TRIMETHOPRIM)
Use Polytrim only in the eye. This medicine is not for swallowing or injection.
Do not wear contact lenses if you have bacterial conjunctivitis and are using antibiotic eye drops to treat it.
You should know that conjunctivitis spreads easily. Wash your hands frequently, especially after touching your eyes. Once your infection is treated, replace eye makeup, contact lenses, or anything else that touched your eyes.
Keep all your healthcare appointments while taking Polytrim. Your doctor may want to order certain lab tests and monitor you for adverse reactions.
If you are using other eye drops, apply them at least 10 minutes away from Polytrim to give your eye time to absorb each medicine.
Tell your health care professional if you become pregnant while on Polytrim.
Polytrim (POLYMYXIN B / TRIMETHOPRIM) Drug Interactions
Using Polytrim eye drops with certain other medicines can affect how the medicines work. Possible interactions between Polytrim and other medicines can also increase the risk of severe adverse events. Your doctor may change the dose of your medications and/or monitor you carefully for possible side effects if there are known interactions between Polytrim and your other medicines.
