Prazosin is used to treat high blood pressure and also certain other conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH or enlarged prostate) and sleep problems related to PTSD. If you have high blood pressure and one of these other conditions, you may be able to take one drug to treat both.
You can take prazosin by mouth without regard to meals.
There is a lower-cost generic available.
Prazosin is not a first-choice medication to treat high blood pressure.
You need to take it 2-3 times a day.
It can cause side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, and orthostatic hypotension (postural decrease in blood pressure).
