How To Use Prednisolone Acetate
Prednisolone ophthalmic comes in the form of a liquid solution or suspension. Use prednisolone as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Do not use more or less of this medication than instructed. Do not stop using the medicine suddenly.
To use prednisolone eye drops, you should:
- Wash your hands with soap and water.
- Shake the bottle well.
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to anything, including your hands or your eye. A contaminated dropper can lead to an eye infection.
- Stay in an upright position, tilt your head back and pull the lower eyelid down with your finger to create a small pocket.
- Hold the tip of the eye dropper near this pocket without touching the eye and squeeze so that a single drop falls into the pocket in the lower eyelid.
- Gently close your eye, apply gentle pressure, and look down at the floor. Try not to blink for a couple of minutes.
- Wipe excess liquid from your face.
- Wait at least 5 minutes before putting another drop if you are supposed to use two drops.
- Replace the dropper in the bottle. Do not rinse it.
- Wash your hands to remove any medication.
