Primidone (Mysoline) Tips from Pharmacists
Your doctor will start you on a low dose of primidone and gradually increase the dose no more frequently than once every 3 days. Follow the dosing instructions carefully. Do not change the dose or dosing frequency without your provider’s approval.
You can take primidone with or without food. If it causes an upset stomach, taking it with food might help.
Primidone can cause dizziness, vision changes, and balance problems. Be careful when driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
Avoid drinking alcohol while on primidone. Alcohol can make primidone side effects like dizziness and coordination problems worse.
Primidone may help to control seizures but does not cure epilepsy. Continue taking the medicine even if your seizures are under control. Do not suddenly stop taking primidone - this can cause worsening seizures and status epilepticus.
