Propranolol Side Effects

Possible side effects of propranolol are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if they are severe or persist after a few days.

  • Dizziness
  • Weakness or fatigue
  • Stomach pain or stomach cramps
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Cold feeling in the hands or feet

Some of the adverse effects of propranolol are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you develop:

  • Skin pain, rash, hives, itching, blistering, or peeling
  • Swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fainting
  • Irregular or very slow heartbeat
  • Swelling of the lower legs
  • Rapid weight gain

Propranolol Overdose: In case of an overdose of propranolol, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Overdose symptoms may include lightheadedness, tiredness, weakness, slow or uneven heartbeats, fainting, difficulty breathing, or cough.
