Rabeprazole (Aciphex) Side Effects

Possible side effects of rabeprazole are listed below. Tell your doctor if these side effects are severe or continue after a few days.

  • Headache
  • Gas
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Sore throat
  • Erection difficulties in men

More serious adverse reactions of rabeprazole are listed below. Call your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical help if you have the following symptoms:

  • Flu-like symptoms; fever; swollen glands; sores on the lips, mouth, nose, or genitals; skin peeling, blistering, or bleeding; shortness of breath
  • A severe allergic reaction with skin rash, hives, itching, swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, mouth, or throat
  • Hoarseness
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Chest pain
  • Fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat
  • Uncontrolled shaking or jerking muscle movements
  • Muscle cramps or muscle spasms
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Seizures
  • Excessive tiredness
  • Unusual bleeding or abnormal bleeding
  • Sudden pain or severe pain in the stomach, severe diarrhea with watery stools, fever
  • Sun-sensitive rash on the cheeks, new or worsening pain in the joints
  • Changes in urinary frequency or blood in urine
  • Fever, tiredness, nausea, loss of appetite, rash, joint pain

Rabeprazole (Aciphex) Overdose: In case of an overdose of rabeprazole, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the local poison control center or national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person cannot be awakened, has trouble breathing, has collapsed, or has had a seizure, call 911.
