Ramipril (Altace) Side Effects
Possible side effects of ramipril are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or persist after your body adjusts to the medicine.
- Cough
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Stomach upset
- Vomiting
- Weakness
- Tiredness
Rarely, ramipril can cause more serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away or seek immediate medical attention if you develop the following symptoms:
- Swelling of the eyes, face, lips, tongue, throat, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
- Hoarseness
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Chest pain
- Lightheadedness
- Fainting
- Severe stomach pain
- Yellowing of the skin or eyes
- Fever, chills, sore throat and other signs of infection
The above list may not include all the potential side effects of ramipril. Contact your healthcare provider if your side effects are unusual or severe or they do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Ramipril (Altace) Overdose: In case of an overdose of ramipril, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 if a person has collapsed, cannot breathe, has had a seizure, or cannot be awakened. Signs and symptoms of an overdose may include dizziness and lightheadedness.
