Shingrix Side Effects
The most common side effects of Shingrix are listed below. Tell your doctor if these side effects are severe or if they do not go away in a few days.
- Mild to moderate soreness and pain at injection site
- Tiredness
- Muscle pain
- Headache
- Redness at injection site
- Injection location itching
- Shivering
- Fever
- Swelling at injection location
- Nausea
- Stomach pain
- Malaise
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Chills
- Joint pain
Some of the adverse effects of Shingrix can be more serious. Patients receiving Shingrix should call one of their healthcare professionals right away or seek emergency medical help if they experience the following signs and symptoms while on Shingrix:
- Swelling of face, eyes, inside of nose, mouth or throat, and limbs,
- Shortness of breath
- Swallowing difficulties
- Hives, itching (particularly hands or feet), redness of skin (usually around the ears), or severe skin reactions
- Severe and sudden form of unusual weakness or tiredness
The above list may not include all the potential side effects of Shingrix. Contact your healthcare provider if your side effects are unusual or severe or if they do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Shingrix Overdose: In case of an accidental or intentional overdose of Shingrix, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person has signs of a severe allergic reaction (swelling of the face and throat, hives, difficulty in breathing, fast heartbeat, dizziness, or weakness), call 911.
