Silver Sulfadiazine Tips from Pharmacists
Do not apply silver sulfadiazine cream in or near your eyes, nose, or mouth.
Wash your hands and avoid contact of bare hands with the burned skin. Use a sterile technique to apply the medicine to prevent bacteria spreading to the treated areas.
The burned area should remain covered with the medicine at all times. Reapply Silvadene cream if it rubs off between applications.
The treated areas should be left uncovered. Do not apply bandages or dressings unless your doctor advises you to do so.
Silver sulfadiazine can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Limit sun exposure of the treated areas to prevent sunburn.
Do not use this medicine on nursing infants under 2 months of age or premature babies.
