Telmisartan (Micardis) Side Effects
Possible side effects of telmisartan are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or do not go away after a few days once your body adjusts to the medicine.
- Back pain
- Sinus congestion
- Sinus pain
- Diarrhea
Rarely, telmisartan can cause more serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away or seek medical attention in the emergency room if you develop:
- An unusual or allergic reaction (skin rash, hives, itching, blistering)
- Swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, throat, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Hoarseness
- Leg pain or cramping that comes and goes with physical activity
The above list may not include all the potential adverse effects of telmisartan. Contact your health care professional if your side effects are unusual or severe or they do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Telmisartan (Micardis) Overdose: In case of an overdose of telmisartan, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 if a person cannot be awakened, has trouble breathing, has collapsed, or has had a seizure. Overdose symptoms may include dizziness, fainting, and a rapid or slow heartbeat.
