Terbinafine Side Effects
Possible side effects of oral terbinafine are listed below. Call your doctor if they are severe or persist after a few days.
- Indigestion
- Diarrhea
- Headache
- Itching
- Mood changes or depression
- Changes in sleep patterns
Some of the other side effects of terbinafine are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following signs and symptoms:
- Severe skin rash that keeps worsening, hives, itching, peeling or blistering skin (signs of serious skin reactions)
- Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, weight loss
- Unusual tiredness
- Right upper stomach pain, yellowing of the eyes and skin, pale stools, dark urine
- Flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, cough, sore throat
- Swelling in the face, eyes, lips, tongue, throat, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
- Hoarseness
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Mouth sores
- Chest pain
- Unusual bruising or bleeding
- Fast or irregular heartbeat
- Blood in the urine

Terbinafine Overdose: In case of an overdose of terbinafine, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 or emergency services if a person has collapsed, cannot breathe, has had a seizure, or cannot be awakened. Signs and symptoms of an overdose may include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, rash, and frequent urination.
