Terconazole Tips from Pharmacists

  • Follow your doctor’s instructions closely. Use terconazole as long as your doctor has directed it. Don’t stop using terconazole until you finish the prescribed treatment, even if your symptoms disappear.

  • Do not use a different or additional medication for your yeast infection without consulting with your doctor.

  • Gently insert the cream applicator or vaginal suppository. If you encounter resistance, don’t push. Call your doctor.

  • Keep your genital area clean and dry. Get out of wet bathing suits and exercise clothes as soon as possible.

  • To prevent re-infecting yourself, clean the terconazole vaginal cream applicator thoroughly with warm soapy water after every use.

  • Wear an absorbent panty liner to prevent staining your clothes from leaked terconazole.

  • Avoid getting out of bed after inserting terconazole cream or suppository, except to wash your hands.

  • If you get your period while using terconazole, continue using the medicine. However, use a sanitary napkin and not a tampon during your period. Tampons can absorb the medicine and make it less effective.

  • Wear cotton underwear and loose-fitting clothing. Avoid wearing tight jeans, nylon underwear, pantyhose, etc.
