Terconazole Uses

Terconazole cream and suppository is used to treat vaginal infections caused by a fungus called Candida.

There may be other uses of terconazole—your pharmacist or doctor can give you further drug information.

Terconazole Mechanism of Action

Terconazole has antifungal activity. It prevents the growth of Candida fungus that causes vaginal yeast infections.

Terconazole Doses

Terconazole vaginal cream comes in 0.4% and 0.8% strengths. There is also an 80-mg terconazole suppository. 

The recommended dosage is as follows:

  • Terconazole vaginal cream 0.4%: One applicator-full inserted into the vagina once daily at bedtime for 7 consecutive nights. 
  • Terconazole vaginal cream 0.8%: One applicator-full inserted into the vagina once daily at bedtime for 3 consecutive nights. 
  • Terconazole suppository 80 mg: One suppository inserted into the vagina once daily at bedtime for 3 consecutive nights.
