Timolol Side Effects
Possible side effects of timolol are listed below. Tell your doctor if these side effects are severe or do not go away in a few days.
- Temporary eye irritation (burning or stinging)
- Temporary double vision or blurry vision
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Nausea
- Depression
Rarely, timolol can cause more serious side effects. Seek immediate medical help if you have the following serious symptoms:
- Difficulty breathing
- Chest pain
- Slow or irregular heartbeat
- Swelling of the lower legs, ankles, or feet
- Sudden weight gain
- Fainting

Timolol Overdose: An accidental or intentional overdose of timolol can lead to similar effects to those caused by oral beta-blocking agents. Signs and symptoms of timolol overdose may include dizziness, headache, shortness of breath, slowed breathing, and cardiac arrest. In case of an overdose, contact your doctor immediately. You can also call the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person cannot be awakened, has trouble breathing, has collapsed, or has had a seizure, call 911.
