Timolol Uses
Timolol ophthalmic solution is used to treat ocular hypertension and open angle glaucoma. Ocular hypertension is a condition in which blood pressure in the eye is high. Glaucoma is a condition in which there is increased pressure in the eye, which can lead to gradual loss of vision.

Timolol Mechanism of Action
Timolol belongs to a group of drugs called beta-adrenergic blocking agents. It causes beta-adrenergic receptor blockade and helps to decrease intraocular pressure, i.e., it reduces pressure inside the eye.
Timolol Doses
Timolol is a clear, colorless to light yellow solution, available as 0.25% and 0.5% strength eye drops and gel-forming solution. The usual dose of timolol in adults is one drop of 0.25% timolol ophthalmic solution in the affected eye twice a day. Your doctor may increase the dose to one drop of 0.5% timolol ophthalmic solution twice a day if needed.
