Travoprost (Travatan Z) Tips from Pharmacists

  • Wash your hands with soap and water before and after using the eye drops.

  • To prevent contamination, do not touch the eye dropper tip to your eye or any other surface. Also, do not rinse or wipe the eye dropper after use. Take other precautions as advised by your doctor to lower the risk of contamination and eye infection.

  • If you wear contact lenses, remove them before instilling travoprost (Travatan Z) eye drops and wait 15 minutes before putting them back in.

  • Wait at least 5 minutes before using another eye drop in the affected eye.

  • Travoprost can cause temporary vision problems such as blurred vision. Do not drive or perform other hazardous activities until you have clear vision.

  • Changes in eye pressure do not cause obvious symptoms. You cannot tell if you have normal pressure or high pressure in your eye without an eye test. Do not stop using travoprost without talking to your doctor.

  • Check the expiration date on the container of travoprost. Discard any unused medicine if the medicine is past the expiration date.
