Verapamil (Calan SR) Side Effects

Possible side effects of verapamil are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or persist after a few days.

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Heartburn
  • Constipation

Some of the adverse effects of verapamil are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop:

  • Swelling of the limbs
  • Slowed heartbeat
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Blurred vision
  • Fainting
  • Skin rash
  • Unusual tiredness or low energy
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
  • Nausea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Right upper abdominal pain
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • Fever or flu-like symptoms

Verapamil (Calan SR) Overdose: In case of an overdose of verapamil, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Overdose symptoms may include dizziness, blurred vision, confusion, changes in heartbeat (fast, slow, or irregular), convulsions, and difficulty breathing or swallowing.
