What side effects should I be expecting from taking Vyvanse?
Signs of Vyvanse allergy: difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).
Serotonin syndrome: Vyvanse can cause an accumulation of serotonin, leading to a high level of serotonin in the body. Below are the signs and symptoms of serotonin syndrome. Please seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms: fever, sweating, agitation, hallucinations, fast heart rate, twitching, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Call your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following signs:
- Heart problems: trouble breathing, chest pain, fluttering heart, fast heartbeat, or feeling like you are about to faint.
- Psychosis signs: hallucinations, aggression.
- Circulation problems: fingers or toes turning pale or blue with numbness, cold feeling, or pain.
Common side effects of Vyvanse -- data has shown that at least 5% of people who take Vyvanse have one of these common side effects:
- Dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, belly discomfort, or pain
- Anxiety, irritability, dizziness, headache
- Insomnia (problem falling asleep or staying asleep)
- Fast, irregular heart rate
- Loss of appetite, weight loss
The above symptoms typically get better over time as your body gets used to the medication. However, if these side effects do not go away or if they get more severe, please let your doctor know so that dose adjustment or alternative treatment can be discussed.
Less common side effects of Vyvanse:
- Uncontrolled vocal outburst or tics (uncontrolled repeated body movement)
- Crying, rapid mood change
- Paranoia
- Unusual sleepiness, severe drowsiness
