Ziprasidone (Geodon) Side Effects
Possible side effects of ziprasidone are listed below. Call your doctor if they are severe or continue after a few days:
- Headache
- Low energy
- Restlessness
- Anxiety
- Stomach pain
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Loss of appetite
- Muscle pain
- Dizziness
- Unsteadiness or poor balance
- Cough
- Runny nose
- Weight gain
- Breast enlargement or breast discharge
- Changes in the menstrual cycle (late or missed period)
- Decreased sexual function
Rarely, ziprasidone can cause more serious side effects. Call your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following serious symptoms:
- Abnormal, uncontrolled movements of the face or body
- Fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat
- Serious skin reactions with rash, hives, itching, blistering, or peeling skin
- Swollen glands
- Mouth sores
- Fever or chills
- Stiff muscles
- Shakiness
- Sweating
- Falls
- Confusion
- Loss of consciousness
- A painful or prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours

Ziprasidone (Geodon) Overdose: In case of an overdose of ziprasidone, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the National Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 if a person has stopped responding, lost consciousness, had a seizure, or stopped breathing. Signs and symptoms of a ziprasidone overdose may include drowsiness, slurred speech, anxiety, and uncontrolled movements or shaking.
