Clindamycin and Benzoyl Peroxide (Benzaclin) Tips from Pharmacists

  • Wash your face with mild soap and warm water and pat dry before applying a thin layer of clindamycin benzoyl peroxide gel with clean hands to the affected area twice a day.

  • Check with your doctor before using other topical products during treatment of acne vulgaris with this medicine.

  • You should see a decrease in acne lesion counts within 12 weeks of treatment. Tell your doctor if your acne has not improved after this time.

  • Call your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical care if you develop severe stomach cramps or bloody diarrhea while using this acne medicine.

  • Allow the medicine to dry completely before wearing clothing or lying down on bed linen, as it can bleach colored fabric.

  • Read the storage instructions on your clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide product. Some formulations need to be stored in the refrigerator.
