Clindamycin and Benzoyl Peroxide (Benzaclin) Side Effects

Possible side effects of clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide gel are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if they are severe or do not go away in a few days.

  • Skin irritation with redness, dryness, itching, or peeling 

Some of the adverse effects of clindamycin benzoyl peroxide gel are more serious. Call your doctor without delay or seek emergency medical attention if you develop:

  • An unusual or allergic reaction with skin rash, hives, itching
  • Severe stomach pain or stomach cramps
  • Severe diarrhea 
  • Mucus or blood in stool
  • Skin or nail changes that could signs of a fungal infection

Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide (Benzaclin) Overdose: In case someone swallows clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide gel, call a doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If someone has lost consciousness, collapsed, stopped breathing, or had a seizure, call 911.
