Doxycycline Monohydrate Drug Class

Doxycycline monohydrate (dox-ee-sye-kleen moh-noh-hye-drayt) is an antibiotic from the tetracycline class. It is an antibacterial drug synthetically derived from a species of bacteria called Streptomyces.

Doxycycline Monohydrate Age Range

Doxycycline monohydrate is approved for use in adults and children above 8 years of age. This medication should not be used in children below 8 years of age except for serious infections when other medications are unlikely to be effective.
