Famotidine (Pepcid AC) tips from pharmacists

• Do not take over-the-counter famotidine (Pepcid AC) for longer than 2 weeks unless your doctor says so.

• If you take liquid famotidine, your pharmacist will make the suspension by mixing a powder in water. Be sure to shake the bottle for a few seconds before taking the liquid to ensure the medicine is adequately mixed.

• You can take Pepcid AC tablets at bedtime if prescribed once a day or in the morning and at bedtime if prescribed twice daily. You can take the medicine with or without food.
