  • Fluorometholone provides relief from inflammatory symptoms such as swelling and redness.
  • It is available in both ophthalmic suspension (eye drop) and ointment form.
  • There is a lower-cost generic for the ophthalmic suspension.

  • You need to apply fluorometholone 2-4 times a day. 
  • The safety and efficacy of this medicine have not been studied in children younger than 2 years of age.
  • Fluorometholone application can cause untoward effects including temporary eye irritation (stinging and burning) and blurry vision.
  • You need to take out contact lenses before using this medicine.
  • You must have intraocular pressure routinely monitored with long-term use.
