Hydrocortisone Acetate Side Effects
Possible side effects of hydrocortisone acetate are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or persist after a few days.
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Trouble sleeping
- Acne
- Irregular menstrual periods
Some of the adverse effects of hydrocortisone acetate are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following serious symptoms:
- Skin rash, hives, itching (signs of a serious allergic reaction)
- Trouble breathing or swallowing
- Swelling of the eyes, face, mouth, lips, tongue, or throat
- Swelling of the lower legs or ankles
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
- Stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea
- Unexplained or sudden weight gain
- Psychiatric symptoms such as depression, mania (abnormal excitement), or hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not there)
- Signs of infection such as fever, chills, sore throat, and cough
- Eye pain, redness, watering, blurred vision or other vision problems
- Difficulty urinating
- Seizures

Hydrocortisone acetate Overdose: In case of an overdose of hydrocortisone acetate, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 or emergency services if a person has collapsed, cannot breathe, has had a seizure, or cannot be awakened.
