Hydrocortisone-Pramoxine (Analpram Hc) Drug Class

Hydrocortisone (hai-droh-kor-tuh-sone) is a corticosteroid. Pramoxine (pra-mox-een) is a topical anesthetic.

Hydrocortisone-Pramoxine (Analpram Hc) Age Range

Hydrocortisone pramoxine (Analpram HC cream) is approved for use in adults and children 12 years of age and older. This medication can cause serious adverse events such as HPA-axis suppression, Cushing’s syndrome, growth retardation, delayed weight gain, intracranial hypertension, and local skin reactions in pediatric patients due to a higher skin surface area to body weight ratio. Topical corticosteroids should therefore be used with caution in pediatric patients with the least amount of medicine necessary for an effective therapeutic regimen.
