Lidocaine Prilocaine Tips from Pharmacists

  • Wash your hands before and after application of the topical cream (unless the treated area is on your hands).

  • Do not apply lidocaine prilocaine to open wounds or inflamed skin.

  • Avoid touching your eyes. This medication can cause severe eye irritation. Wash your eyes with water immediately in case of accidental exposure and eye irritation.

  • You can injure yourself while your skin is numb. Until the numbness wears off, do not scratch your skin or expose it to cold objects to avoid injury.

  • Some lidocaine prilocaine products come in the form of kits with additional wound care ingredients. Make sure you understand how to use them correctly.
