Rabeprazole (Aciphex) Tips from Pharmacists

  • You can take rabeprazole for treatment of GERD with or without food. However, if you are taking it to treat H. pylori, take it with your morning and evening meals.

  • Do not cut, crush, or chew the rabeprazole delayed release tablet.

  • Do not take rabeprazole for longer than required. Long-term use of this medication is associated with serious health risks including bone fractures.

  • Rabeprazole does not work immediately. You can take antacids such as Tums for instant relief from GERD symptoms.
