  • You only need to take the delayed release rabeprazole tablet once a day for most conditions.
  • People with GERD can take the medicine without regard to meals to treat heartburn symptoms. 
  • There is a lower cost generic available.
  • You can continue taking antacids for symptom relief while on rabeprazole treatment.

  • Rabeprazole is only available in tablet form. The delayed release tablet cannot be crushed or chewed, which can be problematic for people who have trouble swallowing pills.
  • Long-term use of rabeprazole can increase the risk of osteoporotic bone fractures.
  • Rabeprazole may not be safe for people with osteoporosis, autoimmune conditions like lupus, or vitamin B12 deficiency.
