What is Singulair (montelukast)?

Singulair (sing gyuh lehr) is a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It is a prescription oral medication that is used to treat asthma and/or allergies.

Who can take Singulair (montelukast)?

Singulair has different indications for different age groups, ranging from 6-month old to adult patients. 

Singulair is indicated to relieve seasonal allergic rhinitis for adults and children at the age of 2 or older. It is used to treat perennial (year-round) allergic rhinitis in adults and patients aged 6 months and older. For prophylaxis (prevention) and treatment of chronic asthma, Singulair is indicated for adults and children of 12 months of age or older. For exercise-induced asthma, Singulair can be used in adults and patients who are 6 years of age and older.
