Forms:

0.3% and 0.1% are the concentration of tobramycin and dexamethasone, respectively.

Eye drop:
2.5 mL of 0.3%/0.1% 
5 mL of 0.3%/0.1% 
10 mL of 0.3%/0.1%

Eye ointment:
3.5 g of 0.3%/0.1%

Administration:

  • Not for injection into the eye
  • Liquid suspension (eye drop): instill drops into the eyes
  • Eye ointment: Apply a thin film of the ointment into the lower eyelid

What is Tobradex (tobramycin and dexamethasone)?

Tobradex is a sterile, multiple-dose antibiotic and steroid combination for topical ophthalmic use. Tobramycin is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections, and dexamethasone is a steroid. Ophthalmic (for the eye) dexamethasone is used to treat the swelling and inflammation of the eye caused by a bacterial infection. 

Tobradex is approved to treat bacterial infections or inflammation of the eyes; thus, preventing permanent eye damages.

Who can take Tobradex (tobramycin and dexamethasone)?

  • Adults
  • Children 2 years and older - clinical studies have shown that Tobradex is safe and effective for use in children.
  • No significant differences regarding safety and efficacy have been observed between elderly and younger patients.
