Betamethasone Dipropionate Uses

Topical formulations of betamethasone dipropionate are used to provide relief from inflammatory skin conditions, including psoriasis, eczema, allergic contact dermatitis, and others. Topical corticosteroids help to ease redness, itching, dryness, inflammation, scaling, crusting, and discomfort associated with these skin conditions.

There may be other uses of betamethasone dipropionate, such as to treat alopecia areata. Your healthcare professional or pharmacist can give you further drug information.

Note: Another form of this topical cream called betamethasone valerate is also available, which is less potent (weaker) than betamethasone dipropionate.

Betamethasone Dipropionate Mechanism of Action

Betamethasone dipropionate is a topical steroid medicine. It works by activating substances in the skin that suppress inflammatory cells. In this way, it helps to reduce redness, swelling, itching, and inflammation.

Betamethasone Dipropionate Doses

Betamethasone dipropionate products are potent corticosteroids. They are available as 0.05% cream, ointment, lotion, spray, and foam for topical administration.
