Promethazine-Codeine Drug Class

Promethazine (pro-meth-ah-zeen) is a phenothiazine or antihistamine. Codeine (koh-deen) is an opioid.

Promethazine-Codeine Age Range

Promethazine and codeine are approved for use in adults 18 years of age and older. Accidental ingestion of promethazine with codeine by children younger than 18 years of age can result in very serious side effects, including respiratory depression and death.
